Scholarships
The VFW Auxiliary offers scholarship opportunities for young artists in grades K-12 and writers in grades 6-12. All students are encouraged to participate, regardless of their affiliation with a member.

For Writers
Deadline for submissions is October 31, 2026
Students in grades 9 through 12 are invited to write an essay on the theme "What a Veteran Has Taught Me About America." Along with their written submission, they should also include an audio recording of themselves reading the essay aloud.
Students in grades 6 to 8 are invited to submit an essay exploring the theme, "What a Veteran Has Taught Me About America."
For Artists
Deadline for submissions in March 31, 2027.
Students in grades K-8 are invited to submit their drawings and paintings that celebrate a patriotic theme. The artwork will be evaluated across three distinct age groups.
For high school students who create art in two dimensions.
